Be the Difference at Marquette University

Be the Difference at Marquette University

Dec 5, 2018

Founded in 1881 in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Marquette University encourages students to be the difference they wish to see and prepares them for the world by asking them to think critically. Marquette is home to a large international student body, with almost 700 students from more than 63 countries currently enrolled. If you’re looking for a city campus with a global focus, Marquette University might be right for you.

Get to Know Milwaukee: Marquette University is located in downtown Milwaukee, giving students the opportunity to live close to campus and a vibrant downtown. Balancing both a residential feel and the excitement of a big city, Marquette offers a private university experience just steps away from a hub of business and technology.

Milwaukee offers off-campus learning opportunities, as well as exciting shops and restaurants. Marquette students can visit the Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee County Zoo and Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory. They can also take part in baseball, America’s pastime, at a Milwaukee Brewers game at Miller Park. Just down the street from Marquette’s campus, there is something for everyone in downtown Milwaukee.

Earn Your Degree: With 81 majors and 83 minors for students to choose from, Marquette University allows students to customize their education. The university’s most popular majors include business management, marketing, biomedical sciences, engineering and communications. Marquette offers English as a Second Language classes to provide international students with quality language instruction, while helping them gain the academic skills and cultural knowledge necessary for their success in academic programs and in their future professional and personal lives. Small class sizes also allow international students to build personal relationships with their professors.

Marquette’s Office of International Education can answer questions about applications, scholarships, student visas and campus life. Take a virtual tour to find out more about the Marquette community, academics and what life is really like on campus.

Join a Club: For students looking to get involved in extracurriculars, Marquette offers more than 230 clubs to explore, including club sports, Greek life, arts and music organizations, service and volunteer organizations, and student government. Joining a club is an easy way to make friends with similar interests, and if you’re passionate about a topic that is not yet recognized as an official club, the university encourages you to start your own student organization.

Cheer on the Golden Eagles: Marquette University fields 11 varsity sports that compete at the highest level of competition, including soccer, track and field, and tennis. Marquette’s men’s basketball team is consistently highly ranked. Students have priority access to all Marquette sporting events, and can attend many games throughout the year for free.

Finding a Home: All Marquette students are required to live on-campus for their first two years, but have the option to live off-campus for the remainder of their time at the university. When searching for a place to live in Milwaukee, many students rely on ApartmentSearch.com. The website allows students to search for an apartment based on distance from campus, while also showing the cost of living, local restaurants, the length of your commute and more.

If your apartment is unfurnished, furniture rental is an economical and convenient way to furnish your home. CORT, the leading provider of furniture rental in the U.S., furnishes thousands of student apartments with everything from beds and sofas to housewares and electronics – all with affordable rental package options.

If you are looking for a university with small classes, a diversity of strengths and commitment to graduating global citizens, Marquette could be the perfect fit for you. Take the time to explore the Marquette University website to learn more about their offerings.
