Serving the Regis Community Globally

Serving the Regis Community Globally

May 17, 2025

Spring break service opportunities at Regis College in Boston, Massachusetts

As an institution with service embedded in its mission, each year Regis College offers students, faculty, and staff several opportunities to serve dear neighbors without distinction, both locally and internationally.

During the annual spring break, students travel and learn about other communities throughout the U.S. and around the world through numerous service immersion programs. Many students consider these programs to be the most transformative experiences in their lives.

This year’s service destinations included:

  • Los Angeles, CA and the U.S.-Mexico border
  • Civil Rights Pilgrimage to Atlanta, Georgia and Alabama
  • Mustard Seed Community in the Dominican Republic

Students who participated at the Mustard Seed Community program in the Dominican Republic served children with special needs who have been abandoned by their families. The itinerary included tangible work projects that contributed to enhancing the residential care program while students had an opportunity to explore a different country and culture.

Mustard Seed Communities’ mission is to expose volunteers to the reality of poverty in the developing world and to raise volunteer awareness about the lives of people with disabilities.
“Through the Center of Ministry and Service I have been able to go on two service trips, to South Dakota and L.A./U.S. Mexico border. Both trips have had a profound impact on my life and have allowed me to gain insight into the injustice occurring within our own country,” said Cassie Barrie, class of 2021. “These trips have allowed me to stand in solidarity with outcast or unfairly treated groups of people and to fight for what is right.”

Service programs at Regis run in March during the annual student and faculty spring break. Hear from students as they share more about their transformative experiences through service learning and learn about the various opportunities they had  to serve dear neighbors without distinction.
