The University of North Georgia

Take a Look at the University of North Georgia and See Where It Leads YOU.

The University of North Georgia (UNG) is a leading regional university located in the State of Georgia in the southeast region of the United States. We have five campuses located in Blue Ridge (228 students); Cumming (1,373 students); Dahlonega (7,322 students); Gainesville (7,529 students); and Oconee (2,615 students).

Our Dahlonega Campus offers on-campus housing, making it the usual destination for international students coming from overseas. With nearly 20,000 students across five campuses, UNG offers the perfect pairing of the close-knit community typical of a small campus with the opportunities and resources of a large university.

Academics at UNG

At UNG, our number one focus is helping you succeed in the classroom and after graduation. Your classes will be challenging, but you will learn with professors who care about your success and want to see you thrive in their classes. Your professors are always available to answer questions and give extra help when you need it. UNG also offers a wide variety of student services, such as an academic success coach, free tutoring in a variety of subjects, and supplemental study sessions taught by specially trained students.

Why Choose UNG?

  • Affordable Tuition. We are nationally ranked for value and affordability and one of the most affordable public universities in Georgia.
  • Personal Attention.  We are dedicated to helping you achieve your goals and work hard to make sure you have the support you need to succeed.
  • Leadership Development. International students can get involved in academic research, become a peer mentor, pursue an internship, be a leader in a campus club or volunteer in the local community – all are great to develop your skills and connect with other students.
  • Beautiful Location. Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, you’ll love exploring Dahlonega’s historic town square or enjoying the natural beauty of the area, hiking the nearby mountain trails or kayaking on the river. When the big city beckons, we’re just an hour away from Atlanta.
  • Academic Choices. With more than 80 majors and 50 minors, you will find a degree program that is perfect for you.
  • Safety. Our campuses are located in smaller towns with very low crime and friendly, welcoming communities. Our campus police force is on duty 24/7/365 to ensure your safety.

Preparing Students to Lead

The University of North Georgia is designated a State Leadership Institution and The Military College of Georgia.  The Dahlonega Campus is home to the award-winning Corps of Cadets and our NCAA Division II athletics teams. UNG’s emphasis on leadership, collaboration and creativity prepares our graduates to make a meaningful impact in their careers and in the communities where they serve.

Biology major

The University of North Georgia became more than just a place where I took classes. It became where I would be able to discover myself and my true potential as a student and a leader. I was able to break out of my shell and now am going into my final semester as the President of the International Student Association and a student manager in the Undergraduate Admissions office, all with a newfound love for working with students. From the professors, advisors, and fellow students, UNG provides a unique community and support system that motivates students to achieve their goals.
