We encourage you to explore the many educational opportunities both inside and outside the classroom at California State University, Chico. Come to Chico State, meet new friends, enjoy beautiful California and learn English!

The COVID-19 international travel restrictions and transition to online instruction have greatly impacted the American Language and Culture Immersion. As a result, we must pause our programming and will not be offering classes in fall 2020 or spring 2021. During this pause, the American Language & Culture Immersion program will work to improve the education and student support services offered to all international students. We plan that ALCI will re-open and accept students for summer 2021 to continue the 40-year tradition of quality English language instruction.

ALCI Chico facilitates a transition from an intensive English language program to an academic program at Chico State or other colleges and universities. The program provides general English language skills for students’ personal and professional growth, as well as an introduction to American culture and the higher education system.

ALCI Chico provides conditional admission for undergraduates who have not yet met the University’s English proficiency requirement. Students with qualifying English skills can seek access to University courses without formal admission through the Open University Program.

Our new The International Bridge Program allows qualified students an admissions pathway to a high-quality, American undergraduate degree. In one or two semesters, you can earn credits in California State University, Chico degree courses while you achieve English language proficiency through the campus’ intensive English language program.
