About Westcliff University

Westcliff University was established to provide quality education for students wishing to enter the expanding fields of Business and Education. Westcliff received its initial approval with the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education in 1993. Westcliff is comprised of a College of Business, College of Education, College of Technology & Engineering, and Western State College of Law.  Westcliff University offers graduate and undergraduate certificates and degree programs intended to prepare students for immediate entry and advancement in their respective industries. While some schools only teach theoretical concepts, the programs at Westcliff University prepare students for the practical and theoretical elements required in the job market today. 

Westcliff University offers full-time working students a chance to enroll in 100% online courses or take courses onsite at its campuses in beautiful Southern California. All programs at Westcliff are designed to be convenient, flexible, and affordable. Westcliff University prepares students for personal, professional, and academic success with innovative, up-to-date, and of high quality programs. The university has guidance and expertise from members of its faculty, Program Advisory Council, and Board of Trustees that includes key leaders from organizations such as Google, Hyundai, Kia, Asurion, Deloitte, Hewlett Packard, Hitachi Capital, Cox Communications, CATESOL, as well as other local and national businesses and organizations

Global Perspective

The academic programs at Westcliff University have a truly global focus. Students enrolled in the online and onsite programs originate from such countries as China, Germany, India, Nigeria, Peru, Thailand and Vietnam. Westcliff students born in the US also come from richly diverse ethnic backgrounds, ensuring that a variety of perspectives make both classroom and online discussions informative and dynamic. Teaching in a majority of the courses offered at Westcliff University emphasizes the global nature of the subject matter. The curriculum is developed to allow students to contextualize their learning to align their studies with their own areas of interest and regions of origin or preference.

Westcliff Athletics

Westcliff Athletics competes as a full member of the California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) and National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) for nearly all of its sports. Since Dean of Athletics, Shawn Harris, took the helm, this department has grown exponentially in the number of student athletes, as well as now sponsoring 28 varsity sports: Baseball, M/W Basketball, M/W Beach Volleyball, Cheer, M/W Cross Country, E-Sports, M/W Futsal, M/W Water Polo, M/W Lacrosse, M/W Soccer, Softball, Stunt, Surf, M/W Swim, M/W Tennis, M/W Track & Field, M/W Volleyball, and Women’s Wrestling. Westcliff Athletics also offers an academy team (developmental program) for another 11 teams. Most impressive though is the 13 collective championships earned throughout the 2022 fall season and spring 2023 season.
