The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts

We understand that deciding how and where to pursue your professional acting career is one of life’s biggest decisions.

Welcome to The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts!

We understand that deciding how and where to pursue your professional acting career is one of life’s biggest decisions.

We offer an individualized and collaborative learning experience where you can grow and reach your unique potential and transform from a student into an actor that works. Our Two-Year Associate Degree (AOS) Programs in Film and Television Performance, Musical Theatre Performance, Theatre Performance and New Media for Actors will help you build your brand and launch your career.

Our faculty are professionals currently working in the industry in New York and around the world, and they take great joy from passing their knowledge on to the next generation of actors. They know how today’s entertainment industry works, and will help you to make an individualized plan to reach your goals.

You'll join our vibrant student community, who come to live and work in New York City from all over the world. You'll be able to dedicate to living as an actor every day, and work towards the experience of performing in a professionally produced on-camera scene, or in a performance on a New York City stage. You'll graduate with the tools in hand to get work—including a resume and network of industry contacts.

At The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts:

  • You’ll work with the best in the business honing your unique talents to get the roles you want to pursue and be ready for the demands of today’s industry.
  • You’ll get real-world insights directly from NYC agents, casting directors, managers, directors and actors.
  • You’ll make networking connections and add professional experiences to your resume and reel.
  • You’ll have New York City - the cultural capital of the world - as your campus.

And since now, more than ever, it’s so essential for professional actors to be multifaceted, you have the opportunity to diversify and build your actor’s toolbox by continuing your training at The New York Conservatory – you can work towards a second Associate Degree in as little as one year with our Pathways to Plus One programs.

And, our four-week Summer Intensive Training courses in Acting for Film and Television or Musical Theatre Performance enable experienced performers to work on skill-building, and novice performers to sample the life of an actor living and working in New York City.

The New York Conservatory welcomes students to join us from around the world.

In any year, around 15% of our student body are non-resident international students. Our international admissions team works closely with each student step-by-step through the admissions and visa process and both Student Services and our international student community help new international students settle in and feel at home in New York City.

It’s easy to audition for entry to The New York Conservatory; you can do it from home via Zoom.

If you really want to become an actor, why not do it right? Get excited about moving to New York for a couple of years, and dedicating yourself to your craft. Join us and our faculty of working actors in New York City, and let us prepare you for the career of your dreams.
