Top Rankings

A top-tier institution, UWW has been named among the Colleges of Distinction — a national honor that recognizes campuses for exceptional teaching and dedication to student success. It ranked the No. 65 regional university (U.S. News and World Report, 2019), and is tied as the top 12 public university in the Midwest. Its College of Business and Economics (COBE) is the largest school of business in Wisconsin, and its AACSB accreditation places it among the top 5% of business schools worldwide. COBE also propelled UWW to rank #3 Best College for Accounting and Finance in Wisconsin (Niche, 2018). UWW was also ranked among the 100 Most Affordable Colleges & Universities (College Consensus, 2018). These recognitions are a testament to the affordability and value of a UWW education.

Opportunities for International Students

UWW offers undergraduate and graduate programs in over 75 areas of study, as well as a residential Intensive English curriculum. Students learn from the experts: no courses at UWW are taught by teaching assistants or graduate students, but instead by instructors with the highest degrees in their fields. A small student-faculty ratio (21:1) allows faculty to get to know each student and encourage individual success in the classroom and through research, internships and mentoring. Employers recognize the quality of UWW's programs. Each year, UWW's career fair attracts over 100 companies who offer internships, employment, and continuing education opportunities.

The quality of UWW's advising, counseling and accessibility centers also add to its international reputation as a campus committed to helping all of its students thrive. UWW's international students currently represent 29 countries and find in their new college home a vibrant and active community with over 200 student organizations, athletics and myriad ways to get involved and make a difference.

Exceptional Athletic Programs

UWW is nationally renowned for its athletic programs. A Division III school, UWW is also a member of the Wiscosnin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). UWW made collegiate sport history in 2013-2014 by winning the men's football, basketball, and baseball championships. It is the first school in NCAA history in any division to experience such a three-sport sweep in the same academic year. One of UWW's programs for students with disabilities, Cornerstones for Success, provides athletes with disabilities the opportunity to share their experiences in sports and everyday life with students from across the Midwest. UW-Whitewater also has wheelchair basketball programs for men and women; both teams have won national championships.

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater community champions the benefits and importance of a liberal arts education and takes seriously its role as a guardian of intellectual vitality, social justice and public education that is accessible and affordable.
