About State College, home of Penn State
Known as ‘Happy Valley’, State College is a small, safe community. In fact, it was ranked as the third-safest metropolitan area in the United States by the CQ Press in 2010. In 2013, the American Institute for Economic Research ranked Penn the third best college town in the United States. The downtown area, which features dozens of restaurants, specialty shops, and entertainment venues, runs alongside the university campus. And, it is just minutes from the countryside and the airport (airport code SCE). Do you want to visit a big city? New York City, Philadelphia, Washington D.C and Pittsburgh – some of the most important cities in the United States – are only 3 to 4 hours away by car or bus.
