Moraine Valley Community College is a 2-year institution. We offer Associates in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.), Associate in Engineering Science, and Associate in Science (A.S.) transfer degree programs for students who want to earn a bachelor’s degree. Students complete the first two years -- or approximately 62 to 65 credit hours -- of a bachelor’s degree at Moraine Valley and then transfer to a 4-year institution to continue their studies in the specific areas of their major.
Associate in Science (A.S.)
The Associate in Science (A.S.) program is a recommended pathway for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree who elect to complete the first two years of their degree at Moraine Valley. This degree is recommended for students who plan to major in a science-related discipline such as biology, chemistry, computer science, dentistry, engineering, geology, mathematics, medicine, medical technology, nursing, pharmacology, occupational and physical therapy, physics, and veterinary medicine. They are also for transfer business majors such as accounting, business administration, finance, human resources, marketing, and management.
Associate of Arts (A.A.)
The Associate in Arts (A.A.) and (A.F.A.) programs are recommended pathways for students pursuing Bachelor of Art or Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees who elect to complete the first two years of their degree at Moraine Valley. This degree is inteded for students who plan to major in disciplines such as art, business, criminal justice, education, English, foreign language, geography, history, law, music, philosophy, physical education, political science, psychology, sociology, social work, speech and theater.
Associate in Engineering Science (A.E.S.)
This program is a recommended pathway for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree who elect to complete the first two years of their engineering degree at Moraine Valley. By doing so, students can earn an Associate in Engineering Science (A.E.S.) degree. The program is suitable for all engineering majors, including but not limited to aerospace, agricultural and biological, architectural, chemical, civil, computer, computer science, electrical, energy management, engineering mechanics, engineering physics, general, industrial, materials science, mechanical, nuclear, and systems engineering.
Intensive English Language Program (IELP)
Moraine Valley also offers an Intensive English Language Program (IELP) for students who do not meet English language requirements for academic programs. Students can utilize the training as a stand-alone program, or they can transfer into an academic program after completing the coursework.

Moraine Valley Community College has guaranteed admission agreements with top universities. Many Moraine Valley Community College students transfer to University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Illinois Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology, DePaul University, Loyola University Chicago, and Northwestern University. Students also transfer to many other top institutions all over the country.
No IELTS/ TOEFL or ACT/ SAT Required for Admission
Moraine Valley Community College does not require IELTS or TOEFL tests for admission. Students take a placement test upon admission and are placed in the appropriate English language or academic courses. Students are not required to take an ACT or SAT for admission, as Moraine Valley work on an open-enrollment system. Students are only required to graduate high school for admission.
