History:

Florida Poly was built in 2012 and its aim was to prepare a specialized workforce. After several years of building a good reputation, through high-quality educational programs and a strong focus on industry issues, Florida Poly is now a recognized institution.

Education:

As an imaginative state-funded college, we aim to push the limits of education in science, innovation, building and maths (STEM) by offering degree programs that are explicitly structured your future in mind, focussing on 19 different areas.

Research:

Florida Polytechnic University is shaping the future of Florida by expanding the research to improve lives and organizations. Education at Florida Poly combines theory and practice, with a special focus on answering questions to the current issues faced by our planet.

Course Description

Master of Science in Engineering

Florida Polytechnic University's Master of Science in Engineering (MS) program provides students with an advanced engineering education. The program prepares students with the necessary skills for advancing their careers in industries involved in emerging technologies, product development, and program management with specializations in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering. Specifically, the program includes two focus areas in Electronic, Communication, and Control Systems, and Robotics.

Upon completion of the Master of Science in Engineering Degree in the College of Engineering, students will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of foundational principles of engineering in an open-ended problem.
  • Independently design and conduct experiments specific to one of Mechanical and Industrial, Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Discriminate and select technologies in order to address individual or organizational needs.
  • Analyze and evaluate an engineering scenario, product, or process using engineering tools.

Admissions requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied sciences, or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited university.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.7 in the last 60-semester credits attempted.
  • Graduate Record Exam (GRE) test scores are required for applicants with a GPA less than 3.25. The GRE may be waived by the graduate student advisor for applicants with a GPA of 3.25 or higher.
  • A letter of interest.
  • Two letters of recommendation.

Master of Science in Computer Science

The Master of Science in Computer Science degree features two (2) majors:

  • Computer Science; and,

  • Analytics:  Logistics Analytics track, or Big Data Analytics track

  • Students engage in graduate research utilizing state-of-the-art experimental and/or computational research facilities under close faculty supervision in Computer Science, Logistics-Analytics, or Big Data Analytics.

Upon completion of the Master of Science in Computer Science Degree, students will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of design IT principles in a defined industry problem.
  • Conduct research and apply knowledge based on these research skills.
  • Apply knowledge of managerial skills to coordinate and execute an industry project.
  • Demonstrate understanding of applied analysis of user requirements, research skills, managerial skills and IT based knowledge.
  • Analyze and properly use current computing techniques, methods and theories in an industry scenario.
