Sierra College is ranked in the top 25 colleges in the United States in terms of associate degrees awarded and offers over 70 associate degree programs, including business, computer science, engineering, communication studies, marketing, management, nursing and many more.
With an enrollment of nearly 20,000 students the college has a national reputation for excellence in a variety of different academic disciplines. Sierra College values student learning and high quality teaching in a safe, friendly environment and can provide the first two years of an American bachelor degree at a very affordable price.
Transfer Opportunities
Our tuition fees are less than half those of a four year university. After completing two years at Sierra College, Sierra’s transfer program is available to help students make a seamless transition to a four-year institution and even offers guaranteed transfer agreements to a number of institutions. Students then only have to complete the final two years at these institutions.Sierra College students receive academic advising from highly trained counselors who help students choose a major and classes that meet their educational goals and help make sure they are on track to transfer.
Sierra students choose to transfer to a variety of universities, such as UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UCLA, UC San Diego, and California State Universities. Sierra College ranks first in northern California in transfers to the California State University system. Students can also transfer to private or out-of-state universities.
Studies have shown that California Community College transfer students do as well, if not better, than students who begin at a four-year university when it comes to grades and graduation rates.
English Proficiency
International students must have a minimum score of 45 on the TOEFL iBT or 5.0 on IELTS. TOEFL and IELTS is for admission purposes only. All students upon arrival will take an assessment test to determine appropriate English course placement. Sierra College offers a multi-level ESL program designed for students who wish to improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. There are no additional fees to enroll in ESL classes.
International Student Office
International students on arrival at the college are each assigned their own personal academic counselor who is focused on helping them reach their educational goals. A range of support services are available to assist students in being successful. The college operates a tutor center and a writing center and provides free one on one tutoring. Sierra College has an extensive learning resource center with study rooms, computer labs and a drop-in math center.

Location
Within a 30-mile radius of the college campus there are many recreational opportunities with nearby golf courses, rivers and lakes. In one hour by car, you can be in the beautiful and famous Lake Tahoe region that offers skiing, hiking, horseback riding and boating. The unique location of the college means you are also only a two hour drive from sightseeing in San Francisco, or visiting Napa Valley, or the northern California coast.
