The Theatre School at DePaul University is one of America’s most established and respected theatre conservatories.

Here, you’ll receive training that works, in a place widely known for producing working artists. Being in one of the artistic hubs of the United States, all of our faculty are working professionals, bringing their experience and network into class and sharing it with their students.

Our undergraduate conservatory consists of 15 different Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs spanning all aspects of theatrical work, spread across Performance, Design/Technology, and Theatre Studies. Students combine rigorous coursework with continuous production practice to hone their skills.

Admission requirements vary by program, but every applicant must complete either an audition (Bachelor of Fine Arts Acting major) or interview (all other Bachelor of Fine Arts majors) as part of their application.

Each of our two Master of Fine Arts programs are professional training programs designed to provide our graduate students with the skills and experience necessary to help them advance in their artistic careers. Whether through production practice (Master of Fine Arts Acting program) or professional work experience (Master of Fine Arts Arts Leadership program), The Theatre School makes sure to provide the skills necessary to move forward in your field.

Our production practice is robust, offering roughly 30 productions in a given year, comprising of main stage shows, studio-level productions, Theatre School festivals, and so much more.

We are a school that believes in learning by doing and whether you are studying Acting, Design, or Theatre Studies, you will have guaranteed production practice during your time at The Theatre School.

We also understand that higher education is a big investment, among the most important you’ll ever make in your life. We are committed to providing quality and accessible education to all—because we believe in your future just as much as you do. As such, every student at The Theatre School receives a scholarship to help fund their education and artistic development.
