Academic Programs

The mission of the English Language Center (ELC) is to promote global understanding and education through programs and services that enhance English language proficiency, language teaching, and intercultural understanding. The ELC offers 5+ dedicated English Learning programs as well as custom special programs to fit personal and organizational needs. These include: 

  • Intensive Academic English 
    • Program Start: August, October, January, March, May
    • Duration: 8 weeks per session, Monday-Thursday
    • Tuition: $4,760
  • Intensive Professional English 
    • Program Start: August, October, January, March
    • Duration: 8 weeks per session, Monday-Thursday
    • Tuition: $4,760
  • Intensive Language and Culture 
    • Program Start: August, October, January, March, May
    • Duration: 8 weeks per session, Monday-Thursday 
    • Tuition: $4,760
  • American Conversational English 
    • Program Start: July
    • Duration: 3-week 
    • Tuition: $1,989 
  • Teaching English as a Foreign Language
    • Program Start: Fall & Spring
    • Duration: 15 weeks + practicum 
    • Tuition: $4,350
  • English Skills for Graduate Students
    • Program Start: June
    • Duration: 3 weeks
    • Tuition: $1,999
  • Evening and Weekend English
    • Program Start: Fall, Spring, and Summer
    • Duration: 8-9 weeks
    • Tuition: $540 during Fall and Spring, $480 during Summer

Conditional Admission: No credit courses are available through Georgetown ELC. Students who apply to Master of Professional Studies master’s degree programs at the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies may use completion of the Intensive Academic English program in lieu of an IELTS or TOEFL score for the English language proficiency requirement.
