Professional Studies in Business and Management

Master the skills you need for a successful business career with the International Diploma Programs (IDP) from UC Berkeley Extension. Earn a certificate in four months, or combine your training with an internship opportunity—all in less time than an M.B.A. program.

THREE Formats

• 4-Month IDP
  Focus on one area of study: Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Global Business Management, Marketing or Project Management.
• 8-Month Program: IDP + Internship
  After your 4-Month IDP, apply your knowledge on the job in a 4-month internship with a U.S. company.
• 12-Month Program: Management and Business Track (MBT)*
  Begin with a 4-Month IDP in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship or Global Business Management; then, build specialized competency with a second 4-Month IDP in Finance, Marketing or Project Management. Finally, apply your new knowledge in a 4-month internship at a U.S. company.

*Students who complete the 12-month IDP program may be eligible to apply for 1 year of paid temporary work authorization in the United States, also known as Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Prerequisites

• At least three years of University study for the Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Finance and Project Management programs
• Undergraduate degree and two years of work experience for the Global Business Management program
• English proficiency requirements
  • TOEFL: 79 (iBT)
  • IELTS Academic Format: 6.5

Admission Requirements

• Statement of purpose and background (essay)
• Financial statement and certification (in English) dated within 90 days of application
• Résumé/curriculum vitae (C.V.)
• Proof of English language proficiency (see prerequisites above)
• Transcripts and copy of diploma, with translations if applicable
• Copy of passport photo identification page and expiration date
• $200 nonrefundable application fee

Application Deadlines

Courses start three times per year: January, May and September. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis in the order they are received. For specific dates, please see our website.

Estimated Program Costs

• 4-Month International Diploma Program (IDP): $13,600
• 8-Month Program: IDP + Internship: $16,600
• 12-Month Program: Management and Business Track (MBT): $29,300

All fees are due in U.S. dollars and subject to change without notice.  Students are responsible for their own housing and living expenses.  Berkeley Extension does offer housing location assistance.
