Video: Skyline College Alumna Clarissa Chin on Attending Community College

International student Clarissa Chin attended 3 San Francisco area community colleges: Skyline College, College of San Mateo and City College of San Francisco, before transferring to UC Berkeley as a civil engineering major. “It let me have the chance to go around and look at different classes, [which] I wouldn’t have done if I went to a university because it would have been too expensive,” says Ms. Chin.

“One thing that really stood out at community college was the teachers, because they really care about your studies… and they’ll help you in any way they can.” One way Clarissa’s instructors were able to help was by writing letters of recommendationwhen Clarissa was applying for scholarships.
