Why did you decide to study in the USA?

It was my childhood dream to do master’s [degree], especially in USA.

Why did you choose the University of Dayton?

This university is one of the top ranked universities in U.S. for mechanical engineering; there is more opportunity for international students, like me, to do their research in their respective fields. There is a dedicated research institute helping students to achieve their goals and thrive in their field.

What do you like best?

There is a broad range of courses available under each program. The faculties are student-friendly, and it is one of the safest campuses for international students in U.S.

What do you miss most?

It could be the food.

What was your biggest surprise?

The way the people respect and help outsiders like me. The number of American friends I made in such a short time is the biggest surprise. It feels like home.

... your biggest disappointment?

So far everything seems good, no disappointments.

How have you handled:
... language differences?

I did my schooling in English, so did not have any trouble with the language difference.

... finances?

Doing on-campus job, which covers my living expense and part of the tuition fees too.

... adjusting to a different educational system?

There was a lot in common between this and my country’s educational system.

What are your activities?

International club, Graduate Students Association, volunteering in Ipol [INFORMS PubsOnLine] fall 2013, and planning to join sustainable club in fall 2013.

How easy or difficult was making friends?

It really depends on each person, for me it was really easy. Need to participate in social activities—that’s when you get to meet new people and make new friends.

How relevant is your U.S. education to your personal goals and to the needs of your country?

I wish to do Phd, so doing master’s is one big step in the right direction to achieve my goals.

What is your advice to other students who are considering a U.S. education?

If you have the passion and the will to do higher education, then U.S. is the best place to do it. You will never regret this decision in your life.
