International Students Love Tacoma Community College

Finding new home that foster winning attitude.

Three international students from Tacoma Community College (TCC) in Washington State share their achievements.

Masa Fukushima

Saitama, Japan

“We won the [NWAC] championship in 2018, and I have one more year left at TCC. I think soccer is a little bit different in this country, but the quality is getting better and better in the U.S. My dream is to play for an Division I college soccer team [next year].”

Ruth Nzuki

Nairobi, Kenya

“I have had the opportunity of becoming a peer mentor on campus for international students; my greatest achievement is when I see my mentees go against the grain to achieve their goals. I would encourage other students to to find someone to mentor. Let’s hold each other accountable, because there is something greater in each of us, if only we help each other.”

Kevin Tran

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

“Professors at TCC have helped me a lot by giving critical feedback to help me through the learning process. But the most important thing for me was making friends. From that, I can understand more about the life and culture in America. TCC provides a balance between studying and social life, and I believe that is what makes you successful.”
