Skagit Valley College is located in Mount Vernon, Washington, which was voted "Best Small City in America" by the New Rating Guide to Life in America's Small Cities. This city of 20,000 has a lower cost of living and better personal safety than large cities, a friendly atmosphere, and beautiful surroundings of sea and mountains.

Academics
Skagit Valley College is accredited and has been teaching and graduating students since 1926. The college is a public two-year institution offering the Associate of Arts University College Transfer, Associate of Arts General Studies, and Associate of Technical Arts degrees. Over 60 majors and 25 technical programs may be studied at Skagit Valley College.
Student Success is our Primary Interest — Innovative Advance Levels
We help students succeed in the college environment. Students who need ESL preparation prior to taking a full load of college level classes are given two quarters of ESL and academic classes. In ESL the emphasis is on reading, writing, oral communication and integrated skills.

Members of the community welcome international students with open arms. They open their homes with the homestay program, host progressive dinners, organize "Welcome Barbecues" and have created a strong friendships, enabling students to meet members of the community.
Housing to Meet Your Needs
Skagit Valley College is one of the few colleges in the state of Washington and amongst community colleges in the United States that has campus housing (dormitories). Students who choose this living style will live in student apartments that feature four bedrooms with a bath and a living/dining/kitchen area.
