THE BK INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM

Here at Bishop Kearney, we have a dedicated office for our international students. Our International Program Director supports students in a variety of ways. This includes orientations and monthly meetings, international student advising, and college search support. There is ongoing communication with parents and partner agencies. Additionally, the International Office organizes team building activities, field trips, college visits, and social outings throughout the year. Our annual day trip to Niagara Falls, USA is always a hit!

4 Houses, 1 Family

The House System

At Bishop Kearney, we are a family.  One way we promote the feeling of connectedness and family is through the house system. Students are divided into four houses. Each house has mentor teachers that mentor small groups of students to support them academically, socially and spiritually.  The four houses compete annually for the House Cup through a variety of competitions that highlight the strengths of all students.

Academics

COLLEGE. PREP. PLUS.

Bishop Kearney’s College Prep curriculum exceeds state and national standards. In addition to offering an array of Advanced Placement courses, students can focus on a Major Area of Interest.  We have elective sequences in the sciences, fine arts, business, and media & communications.  Our TV Broadcasting and Social Media & Podcasting classes are student favorites!

With a one-to-one laptop program our students have access to technologies that allow them to focus on important 21st century skills such as: Digital-Age Literacy, Inventive thinking, Effective Communication, and High Productivity.  With a modified block schedule students have more time to become actively engaged in their own learning with a positively impressive success rate.

Support for all students

At Bishop Kearney we believe in providing opportunities for all levels of ability. Our school offers a variety of support services including: ESL/ESOL, Academic Intervention, Literacy Support, Tutoring, and SAT and TOEFL test prep.  While you must have a basic level of English to attend Bishop Kearney, we do consider students with lower test scores because we can offer you support.  Please contact us to see if Bishop Kearney is a good fit for you!

Home Stays

International Students at Bishop Kearney have the opportunity to live with local American families. Families provide students with a safe and comfortable place to live and study while here in the US. Families are hand chosen, background checked, and matched with students who will fit into their lifestyle.  Living with a host family provides students with many opportunities, especially the chance to develop English skills!
