WHY DEAN?

Dean serves 1,200 full-time students and offers both bachelor’s and associate degree programs and specializations. 90% of the College's student population lives on campus, creating a warm and welcoming community. Dean has international students from more than 20 countries representing 7% of the student body. Our faculty and staff are known for creating a supportive learning environment that makes us an ideal place for your American college experience.

Learning at Dean College is all about you. Classes are small, with no lecture halls or teaching assistants. Your professors and advisors will get to know you and help you reach your goals. In our supportive community, you’ll explore your interests, develop essential skills and get the professional experience you need to succeed. We have woven together extensive student support and engagement with exceptional teaching and innovative campus life.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE FLEXIBILITY

Dean offers greater flexibility for our international students who need to improve their English language proficiency or just need English language support. Our International FOCUS program allows the college to accept a wide range of English language proficiency test scores and embeds English language skill development—writing, listening, and speaking—into special sections of required college courses just for international students.

LEARNING DIFFERENCE SUPPORT

Our Arch Learning Community is marking its 20th anniversary of helping students build the skills for success in a traditional college curriculum. A learning difference does not need to limit a student's potential. The Arch Learning Community provides comprehensive support to students with diagnosed learning disabilities and/or other learning differences who would benefit from a unique individualized program to help achieve academic and personal goals. By embedding strategies and skills into a traditional first semester, students excel not only inside the classroom, but also outside the classroom, by joining clubs, athletics and performing arts groups, and using their strengths to become active members of the Dean community

MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS

The college supports international students through merit-based scholarships that range from $5,000 to $21,500 per year. No additional application is required, all applicants are evaluated for scholarships and selection is based upon the academic information submitted as part of the application for admission. International transfer students are also eligible for up to an additional $5,000 based upon their transfer credits. These scholarships are renewable for up to 4 years based upon your degree and academic standing. Students are notified of their award at the point of admission to the college.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION

Dean’s International Student Orientation program introduces all new international students to the academic, social, and student life aspects of college in the United States. Students are invited to campus early and Orientation activities help students ease into college life and become familiar with other students, the campus, and Dean College faculty and staff. Ongoing orientation is considered vital to student success at Dean, and throughout their first semester students receive support from the international student advisor and their Success and Career Advisor.
