English Language Center
The English Language Center (ELC) provides students with comprehensive English instruction that prepares students for university admission in the future. The ELC also provides students with cultural knowledge and academic skills necessary for success.

Campus Life and Activities
We offer a variety of housing options on campus that range from suite-style dorm rooms to apartment-style housing. You will be close to everything you need while living on campus in one of our 32 residence halls.
The University of South Alabama also has over 200 active student groups so you can meet and make new friends from all over the world. You can spend your time at our resort-style pool at the recreation center, or climbing the rock wall, or organizing an outdoor sporting event.
The Community
The University of South Alabama is located in Mobile, Alabama, a city of about 200,000 people. Mobile is an important port city that offers easy access to Gulf Coast beaches in Alabama and Florida. There are plenty of historic things to do and see in the city, as well as outdoor activities on the water like kayaking and swimming. Our subtropical climate means you can expect lots of warm days full of sunshine throughout the year.
Global USA
The University of South Alabama values global engagement and is committed to fostering global perspectives on our campus and strengthening connections between the University and the world. Because of this, the university created a new division to support international students: Global USA.
Offices under Global USA assist with student visas, cultural activities, scholarships, and orientation. We offer a pick-up service for newly arriving international students. The staff within Global USA works to ensure that international students have a safe and successful experience both inside and outside of the classroom.
Scholarships
We offer competitive merit scholarships valued at up to $44,000 for high-achieving international students. Students must apply by the April 1, have a high school GPA of a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and provide either ACT or SAT test scores. Depending on ACT or SAT scores, students are then eligible to compete for the scholarship.
