English Language Institute at Saint Mary of the Woods College

The English Language Institute at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is an intensive English program offering ESL classes through 7 levels of English proficiency. Students are given an English placement test to determine their initial level of study. In each level, students study ESL grammar, reading comprehension, writing, listening comprehension, and speaking. Each class meets 5 hours per week. Full-time study = 20 hours (4 classes)/ for 8 weeks. We offer small classes (8-12) students, outstanding instructors, and full access to SMWC campus resources and activities.

In addition, as part of the learning experience, the ELI program offers day-excursions to cultural destinations of interest to international students.  As a living language experience, students are exposed to language outside the classroom by speakers other than teachers. ELI tuition is $3000 per level per student. Books, fees and cultural experiences are included in the $3000 per level.  After successfully completing Level 7, students meet English requirement for undergraduate admission at Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods-College and other colleges in our network.

Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College is a private, liberal arts college in Indiana. Approximately 600 students live on-campus.With a perfect blend of academic and social exploration, students become independent thinkers and problem solvers.

SMWC is located just 10 minutes northwest of Terre Haute and an hour-and-a-half west of Indianapolis on Interstate 70. The college is within a 200 mile radius of Chicago, St. Louis, Louisville, and Cincinnati.
