Overview

Warren Wilson College is a vibrant, independent college with an innovative curriculum that purposefully integrates the liberal arts and experiential learning with community engagement and work experiences to prepare students for not only professional success, but also a life of meaning. Located on a 1,135-acre campus in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, North Carolina, the College consists of about 700 students in a learning community committed to sustainable practices, cross-cultural understanding, and the common good.

Warren Wilson College is the only national liberal arts college in the United States that fully integrates on-campus work and off-campus community engagement into its undergraduate curriculum. In addition to its innovative experiential program, the College is known for a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, diversity and social justice.  The college also features a top-ranked low-residency MFA Program for Writers and a summer-long Swannanoa Gathering of music and folk arts workshops.

Work Program

One of the most unique aspects during your time at Warren Wilson is the ability to participate in our Work Program. We are one of eight work colleges in the nation and require all students to fulfill graduation requirements by working on one of our 85+ crews. Students work 10 hours per week and earn money toward their tuition. Our Work Program offers students opportunities to develop professional skills and land meaningful jobs out of college.

Here, all students participate in community engagement as a graduation requirement. As you meet our Community Engagement Commitment, you will think deeply about issues that you are passionate about and collaborate with others to take action.
