El Camino Community College

Welcome to El Camino College!

El Camino College (ECC) is one of the most prestigious two-year community colleges in the United States. With its beautiful location, high transfer and success rates and dedicated staff, international students are able to reach their academic goals in a supportive and affordable environment.  El Camino offers two programs – the academic International Student Program (ISP) and the El Camino Language Academy (ECLA).  If you have a passing TOEFL or English proficiency score, you may apply directly to the academic program (ISP). If you need to improve your English before entering the academic program, ECLA will provide you with the skills to transfer and succeed at the college level.   The ECLA program provides conditional letters of acceptance into the ISP program.

Both programs offer students the Form I-20 to study on campus.

We welcome you to Southern California in an area that is culturally diverse, close to beautiful beaches and world-class entertainment! Join us and begin your exciting path to learning a new language and experiencing the lifestyle of southern California - we are waiting for you!

International Student Program (ISP)

If you have a passing TOEFL/IELTS/DUOLINGO score (450/PBT, 133/CBT or 45/iBT) you can apply directly to the academic ISP program to receive a degree or certificate and either work off-campus for up to a year or transfer to a 4-year university.  El Camino College offers over 80 degree and certificate programs in an affordable and supportive campus.  The ISP coordinates student programming designed specifically to support international students through workshops, events and field trips.   International students at ECC have one of the highest success and transfer rates for students interested in transferring to the University of California or Cal State University system.  Please contact the ISP office at isp@elcamino.edu or at the website: http://www.elcamino.edu/academics/is,

California El Camino Language Academy (ECLA)

The Language Academy (ECLA) program does not require a TOEFL score. Our mission is to prepare the international student to take and pass TOEFL, to reach an academic level in English and to transfer to El Camino College or any other university in the United States. A student may apply for one of the three offered semesters; fall semester, spring semester or summer session. This program consists of 20 hours a week of class time with all the resources of being on a community college. Classes include: Conversation, Reading, Grammar, Writing, American Culture, and TOEFL Preparation. Our program also consists of various campus events, social outings, lunch parties and field trips.  At the end of each semester the Institutional Based TOEFL is provided online.

Achieve Your Goals! Academic Counseling

All international students will meet with an academic counselor before they start their program and then meet with a counselor at least once a semester. El Camino's excellent counseling staff can help students select a major, offer career counseling, transfer options, and graduation requirements.
