Study in the USA and U.S. Commercial Service Sign Strategic Partnership

SEATTLE, May 20, 2013 – Study in the USA and the U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on April 16, 2013 to increase awareness among U.S. businesses and communities about the economic benefit of international higher education programs.

“We are very excited to partner and work with the U.S. Department of Commerce on this common goal. Not only are there substantial economic benefits to exporting U.S. education, it also promotes valuable international relations and understanding,” says Renait Stephens, Study in the USA CEO and Publisher.

Under the agreement, Study in the USA and the U.S. Commercial Service’s network of worldwide offices will collaborate on marketing, education programs and events leveraging both entities’ expertise to help U.S. organizations be more export savvy. Joint activities may include building awareness through outreach at trade shows, direct mail campaigns and online registration for resource support.

In 2010, President Obama announced the National Export Initiative (NEI) with the goal of doubling U.S. exports by the end of 2014. The partnership supports this goal by educating U.S. exporters, particularly small- and medium-sized companies, about the benefits of exporting to additional markets, and the public and private sector resources to assist them. Study in the USA joins several of the U.S. Commercial Service’s Strategic Partners. They have connected more than 1,500 companies and organizations to federal export assistance.

Study in the USA promotes United States universities, colleges and schools to prospective international students through publications distributed worldwide and a website that is fully supported in 14 languages.

The U.S. Commercial Service is the trade promotion arm of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration. U.S. Commercial Service trade professionals in more than 100 U.S. cities and in more than 70 countries help U.S. companies get started in exporting or increase sales to new global markets.
