It came out on November 21, 2013, alongside a long-form music video (which includes a number of celebrity cameos) and has been highly successful, peaking at number one in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, and 19 other countries. It has sold over 1.3 million copies in the United Kingdom, and has reached the summit on three separate occasions, both records in their own right.
"Happy" has become a popular remake video, with countless groups and individuals, both amateur and professional, creating personalized versions of the original. Pharrell Williams put together 24 Hours of Happy "the world's first 24 hour music video" in honor of International Day of Happiness, March 20, 2014.
