Founded in 1844, the University of Mississippi, better known as Ole Miss, is the largest university in the state of Mississippi. Located in the city of Oxford, Ole Miss is home to more than 18,000 students, 810 of which are international students. Get to Know Oxford: Oxford, Mississippi, is a true college town, with rich history and small-town charm.  Touted as the “Cultural Mecca of the South”, creativity abounds in Oxford with music, art, food, film festivals, shopping and many annual events for Ole Miss students to take part in. Get Involved: Ole Miss students will have no problem finding extracurricular activities that match their passions. With more than 380 clubs and organizations, students are encouraged to make the most of their out-of-class time. The university offers religious organizations, special interest clubs, professional development organizations, as well as an Associated Student Body, the university’s student government organization. Students can stay up to date on campus events by checking out this calendar. 

Ole Miss students who enjoy fitness and athletics can get involved in club sports teams, or the more relaxed intramural sports leagues offered by the university. Campus Recreation also offers state-of-the -art fitness facilities,aquatics, outdoor activitiesand RebelWell group workout classes to meet each student’s fitness needs.

Earn Your Degree: The University of Mississippi offers more than 200 undergraduate and graduate academic programs available to students on its main campus. The most popular majors at University of Mississippi include Integrated Marketing Communications, Elementary Education, Finance, and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Their diverse academic disciplines emphasize intellectual depth, cultural breadth, and independence of mind. Ole Miss prioritizes each student’s learning process and provides classes with less than 20 students for about half of the courses they offer each semester. 

On campus, the Office of International Programs (OIP) is your home away from home. They help international students adapt to a new culture and educational system, providing advice and answers on everything from visas to which classes you should take. The OIP offers many resources, including an international student newsletter and pre-arrival guides that walk you through what you’ll need to be a successful student at Ole Miss and keep students informed on university happenings. 

Rally the Rebels: With 16 teams competing at the highest level of collegiate sports, the University of Mississippi has many exciting sporting events for students to attend throughout the year. The university is very proud of its sports teams and traditions, and at each home football game, more than 64,000 Ole Miss fans cheer on their team, called the Rebels. Students can refer to this athletics calendar to see what game is next.
