Find Passion and Purpose at the University of Findlay

Find Passion and Purpose at the University of Findlay

Aug 16, 2018

The University of Findlay is a small private university with a mission to equip students for meaningful lives and productive careers. Founded in 1882, The University of Findlay is located in Findlay, Ohio, a quick car ride from exciting cities like Columbus, Ohio, and Detroit, Michigan. More than 3,600 undergraduate students from approximately 35 countries are enrolled at Findlay with an international student population of approximately 600. Learn a little more about the University of Findlay to see if it’s the right fit for you.

Make Yourself at Home: Findlay is a beautiful, safe city known for having an outstanding job market, busy downtown and four distinct seasons. Named “Best Hometown” by Ohio Magazine, Findlay offers students exciting events throughout the year, including festivals, concerts and the amazing Flag City Balloon Fest, where dozens of hot air balloons take to the sky for an incredible day.

The University of Findlay’s 350-acre campus includes a beautiful main campus that offers open green spaces and advanced academic buildings. Watch this video, which takes you up and above the University of Findlay to get a feel for what campus life is like. One unique feature of the university is the Mazza Museum, which celebrates the original art of picture books using education, exhibits, events and artist visits. It contains the largest collection of children's book illustrations in the United States, with more than 11,000 works of art from award-winning authors and artists.

Get Involved: Students may participate in any of more than 100 organizations, including special interest clubs, student media, student government, music and theater groups, service clubs, academic honorary organizations, spiritual life groups, and Greek sororities and fraternities. Students who are unable to find a club that interests them are encouraged to start one themselves! The university publishes a calendar with every event going on around campus so students can stay up-to-date on campus happenings.

Earn Your Degree: Findlay has earned top rankings in U.S. News & World Report's annual survey of "America's Best Colleges" for 12 consecutive years. Offering more than 80 programs of study for undergraduate students to choose from, the University of Findlay provides a personalized education, regardless of major. The five most popular majors are animal science/pre-veterinary medicine, pharmacy, business, equestrian studies and biology. Findlay offers immersive experiences for students considering an environment or animal-related field. The University of Findlay is home to the Animal Science and Western Equestrian Riding Complex, English Equestrian Riding Farm and a 55-acre wetland, providing students hands-on learning opportunities.

International students can find a home at the Buford Center for Diversity & Service. The faculty and staff strive to create a supportive community in which students grow and find their path to a meaningful life and productive career. Class sizes average at a ratio of 16:1, meaning each student gets the personal interaction they need to succeed in each course.

Cheer on the Oilers: The University of Findlay fields 20 varsity men’s and women’s sports teams – called “the Oilers” – that students can cheer on all year long. Fan favorites include men’s and women’s soccer, basketball and tennis. Every season offers many opportunities to show your Oiler pride. For students who want to get into the game, Findlay also offers intramural sports programs with 25 activities to choose from, including soccer and more unique sports like billiards and bowling.

If you’re looking for an excellent education from a university that values each student’s experience, consider the University of Findlay. The university’s website offers more information on admissions, academics, campus life and what it’s like to be a student at the University of Findlay.
