The mission of the ESL Institute is to serve international students by developing their English proficiency and by assisting them in their transition to American culture. Within a supportive environment, the ESL Institute at UTC respects and promotes the individual needs and goals of each student, whether their goals include learning English for personal, business, or academic reasons.

Our Classes

Our ESL Program is offered three times a year - in spring, summer, and fall. Students have 20 hours of classes per week in the heart of UTC’s beautiful campus, walking distance from downtown Chattanooga.

Student activities and campus life:

* full access to UTC facilities such as the UTC Library or the Aquatic and Recreation Center

* on-campus housing and meal plans available

* volunteer work and community outreach opportunities

* free out of town field trips to destinations like Atlanta or Nashville

* July 1st, 2017 – Application deadline

* August 16th, 2017 – Mandatory International Student Orientation

* August 21st, 2017 – December 8th, 2018 – Start Date and End Date
