Why did you decide to attend LBCC?

I first decided to study abroad in California because of the wide variety of people. The biggest reason I chose LBCC is that the Long Beach area is not too crowded and the commute is quite manageable. The Long Beach area seemed to be a perfect area to study.

What were your expectations when coming to LBCC?

I expected an environment that would help me achieve my goals. I also believed that the people in the community would be kind and supportive.

What does LBCC mean to you?

It’s a place where I can pursue my dreams and meet a lot of new people. LBCC is the first stepping stone on the path to go after my long-term goals.

Who is your role model?

My mom is one of the greatest role models in my life. She traveled abroad to Japan in the past which was one of my main motivators to do so here in America. The support that she provided our family has always been impressive, and I look up to her for that.

What is your biggest passion?

I thoroughly enjoy working with the Japanese Culture Club and helping it to grow. Also, I focus on studying and keeping a high GPA, as well as volunteering for numerous jobs both on and off campus.

In what way have you made an impact at LBCC?

I think in the diversity. Thankfully, I met a lot of students who were interested in other countries and cultures. I am willing to share my experiences in Japan and talk about the difference between the two countries. In the Japanese Culture Club, I am trying my best to share unique Japanese culture with our great officers, so hopefully, it made some impact at LBCC.

How has LBCC shaped you into your best self?

Attending this college has helped me to become more productive. This is the first school I’ve gone to in the United States, so being immersed in such a large diversity of people has really broadened my world perspective. LBCC has brought out a more competitive, academic side of me.

What advice would you have for new LBCC students?

I’d suggest that the students take advantage of the tutoring opportunities at the school and access to electronics in the library.

If there is one thing LBCC has taught you, what would it be?

The school has helped me to become more studious by encouraging me to complete my work in a timely manner.

What are your professional goals?

One of my main goals is to establish a business that provides assistance to disadvantaged people. I plan to pursue this goal once I meet my educational goals.

What do you plan to do after you leave LBCC?

I plan to transfer from LBCC and attend UCLA if I have the chance.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

I’d like to get a job that allows me to travel between different countries. I want to work in many different environments and broaden my world perspective. My ultimate goal is pursuing entrepreneurship and establishing more schools here which teach Japanese.
