Studying at Arizona State University’s Global Launch English Language Program
Check out Dr. Rezarta Mataj’s top 5 tips for international students!
Why did you decide to come to the U.S.?
I originally came to study in the U.S. because my family moved in October 2017 with an immigration visa (specifically, a Diversity Immigrant Visa lottery winner).
How was your time as an Arizona State University (ASU) and Global Launch student?
My time at Global Launch and ASU was impactful because that was my first contact with a U.S. university, campus, and instructors. I met international students for the first time with different backgrounds and ages.
What is your dearest memory from your time at Global Launch?
My favorite part about my time at Global Launch was when we went to Sedona and had a tour with pink jeeps.
Top 5 tips you’d recommend to future students?
The top 5 things that are most important to international students studying in the U.S. are:
- To be understandable as much as possible
- To feel safe and informed about where to address concerns, questions, and issues
- To be surrounded by people that care about you
- To have facilities and resources where to find a solution
- To have knowledgeable professors
Do you have any other advice to share?
Friends you will meet at ASU will maintain the best ones for your entire life. I still have a good friendship with Samiha from Tunisia, whom I met at ASU, and we have regularly met each other since then.
Why would you recommend ASU?
It is a university that cares about preparing for your career journey. It is very affordable for an international student with the best professors that you hardly find in another state. You will learn from the best while paying less.
