Diya Chapaneri is a freshman at ETSU, originally from India but having spent her formative years in Botswana. She is passionate about Biology and enjoys exploring the world around her. When she's not studying, Diya engages in various campus activities, making the most of her time at ETSU.

Her involvement in clubs and events like the Asian American Student Association (AASA) and Center for Physical Activity (CPA) showcases her love for dance and cultural exchange. As an International Ambassador for International Enrollment & Services, Diya plays a crucial role in helping new international students transition smoothly into university life. She connects with current and prospective students, creates engaging social media content, and provides vital information to ensure everyone feels at home.

“Get involved! Go to events and different clubs. Put yourself out there and don’t be afraid to try new things!” —Diya Chapaneri

Meet Kshitiz Mishra: Aiming High

Class of 2023 | Masters in Public Health | Bharatpur, Nepal

Kshitiz Mishra, a recent graduate from Bharatpur, Nepal, graduated in 2023 with a Master's in Public Health (MPH). He valued the real-world experiences gained through his Academic Field Experience (APE), which has equipped him with practical skills in his field.

Kshitiz faced a culture shock when he arrived in the United States, particularly regarding the food. Coming from a place where spicy flavors reign supreme, he found American cuisine to be much milder. However, he has embraced this new culinary landscape and looks forward to sharing his culture with others.

“There are a few reasons I chose ETSU, and the first one is definitely the location. ETSU offers a lot of opportunities for outdoor activities. For fun, my friends and I go hiking at Buffalo Mountain. From the top, you can see all of Johnson City.” —Kshitiz Mishra

Since graduation, Kshitiz has moved to Dallas, Texas to pursue his goal of becoming a dentist. His determination and hard work reflect the ambitious nature of ETSU students.

Why Choose ETSU?

East Tennessee State University is more than just an educational institution; it’s a supportive community where students like Diya and Kshitiz thrive.
