Shenandoah University (SU) is a private University located in the historic city of Winchester, Virginia at the northern corner of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Winchester has a regional population of 70,000 and is just a 70 minute drive west of the nation's capital, Washington, D.C., and 50 minutes from Dulles International airport.

The enrollment at the university is approximately 3,000, with 150 international students representing 45 countries including Brazil, Canada, China, Columbia, India, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Tanzania, Mauritania, Mexico, Paraguay, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Thailand, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe. Students from 46 different states in the USA also attend SU.

Our international students tell us they especially enjoy the personalized attention, friendly atmosphere and comfortable environment they find at Shenandoah. Our average class size is 10 students.

In academics, Shenandoah offers more than 80 programs of study at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels in six schools: the College of Arts and Sciences; Harry F. Byrd, Jr. School of Business; Shenandoah Conservatory; the Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy; the School of Health Professions (Athletic Training, Nursing and Respiratory Care, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant and Physical Therapy) and the School of Continuing Education. Internship opportunities are available in many disciplines. All academic programs are fully accredited by appropriate associations and agencies.

Academic and musical talent scholarships from US $500 to $5,000 are available for students with exceptional talent. Competition for International Scholarships is intense and is usually awarded only to students who have successfully demonstrated their academic or musical potential. Special facilities and services on campus provide additional help to students. The Academic Support center offers tutoring in many subject areas. Shenandoah University offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for credit taught by experienced and supportive faculty. Students have the opportunity to improve their English communication skills in listening, reading and writing as well as the academic study skills they need to be successful in an American university. Our students enjoy an internet wireless network and state-of-the-art technology in our computer labs.

SU offers furnished apartment-style as well as traditional style residence halls. Several shopping centers with department stores, grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, banks, movie theaters and many other shops are located within a short walking distance from campus.
