University Highlights

Montana State University, established in 1893 in Bozeman, is the largest and most comprehensive university in Montana. MSU offers a wide variety of excellent undergraduate and graduate programs to approximately 12,000 students from across the United States and around the world. MSU is especially known for high quality programs in the fields of agriculture, architecture, business, computer science, engineering, film production, nursing, and the sciences. The university attracts over US$95 million annually for research and creative activities, and MSU is in the top tier of research universities in the United States under the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching classification that recognizes MSU as one of 94 research universities with "very high research activity." Tuition costs at this mid-sized, public university remain reasonable when compared to those charged at institutions of similar high quality.

The campus is equipped to serve students with high quality facilities and easy access to over 600 computers. The center of campus life is the Student Union Building which includes many comfortable areas for studying and conversation, as well as restaurants, a large bookstore, a bank, recreation center, and full-service health clinic. Convenient, on-campus housing is available, and many leisure activities are offered including concerts, lectures, clubs and films. An extensive gymnasium complex provides a swimming pool, tennis and racquetball courts, a weight room and intramural team sports for students. The unique Outdoor Recreation Center leads students on adventurous camping, skiing, and boating trips around the western U.S. and teaches outdoor skills like rock climbing. The on-campus Museum of the Rockies includes an excellent dinosaur collection, Native American cultural displays, and state-of-the-art planetarium.
