About Cuyamaca College

Cuyamaca College is located in San Diego County on a beautiful 165 acre site filled with lush trees and plants. There are very modern buildings, state of the art computer and science labs, library and recreational facilities. Cuyamaca College is a comprehensive California community college and offers a variety of Associate Degree, Transfer, General Education, vocational training and career preparation programs. The college also provides English as a Second Language as part of their degree or certificate programs to all students who need to improve their English skills. All Cuyamaca College students benefit from excellent support services, including advising, personal counseling, health and wellness services, tutoring and library services. Students participate in a broad range of special interest, service, clubs and organizations. The college schedules lectures, special events, performances and presentations to enrich the educational experience for the entire student body. Intercollegiate athletics is available for both men and women students.

Classes taken at Cuyamaca College transfer to most public and private four-year U.S. colleges. Some of the 4-year colleges in the area include San Diego State University, University of California San Diego, University of San Diego, University of Phoenix, Alliant University and Chapman College.

CALENDAR: The College schedules a Fall semester (mid-August through mid-December), Spring semester (mid-January through late May) and Summer and Winter Intersessions.

ENTRANCE TEST: Students must submit a minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 450 or 133 Computer Based or 45 Internet Based score.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS: Degree candidates must successfully complete all coursework with an overall grade point average of 2.0 and fulfill all other requirements relating to the major.

APPLICATION DEADLINES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: June 1 for Fall semester, November 1 for Spring semester.

ENGLISH PROGRAMS: English as a Second Language (ESL) classes offer instruction designed to improve reading, writing, grammar, listening, and speaking skills.

HOUSING: A list of housing opportunities is kept on file by the International Student Admissions Office. We also work with a Home-Stay agency to place students with American families.

CLIMATE AND GEOGRAPHY: San Diego county and the surrounding areas enjoy moderate temperatures with mild weather and occasional rainfall. Summer temperatures are usually warm and dry. Cuyamaca College is close to the mountains, the desert and beautiful California beaches.
