Los Angeles City College (LACC) sits near the heart of Hollywood’s film industry. It has produced some of the arts and entertainment industries’ biggest names! Actors such as Mark Hamill of Star Wars and Oscar-winning actor/director Clint Eastwood are alumni. Actor Morgan Freeman credits his LACC voice and diction instructor with helping him develop his trademark tone: “It was here that I honed my voice and even dropped it a full octave,” Freeman said of his time at LACC.

Other notable alumni include award-winning film score composer John Williams (Harry Potter, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and more), best-selling author Terry McMillan (Waiting to Exhale and How Stella Got Her Groove Back), and world-famous architect Frank Gehry, to name a few.

LACC is located in Hollywood, just five miles from downtown Los Angeles. Residents of LA are within an hour of the Pacific Ocean and an hour of the San Gabriel Mountains — swim in the morning and snow ski in the afternoon! 

Los Angeles offers concerts, ballets, plays, musicals, museums, and sporting events, with cultural, social, and recreational activities available all year-round. Go see a movie, visit an art exhibit, or take a stroll down the Hollywood Walk of Fame! 

And as far as culture goes, you don’t even have to leave campus! LACC’s facilities include:

LACC is accessible through public transportation by bus or the Red Line Metro system, which has a station at LACC. All LACC students receive a TAP card allowing for free commutes on the metro or bus system.
